Soluto 1.1.1132.0

Most of us have bought a new computer at least one time. It’s quite a nice feeling. You just power up your computer and within 30-40 seconds you can already check your email or play your favorite game. However, after a couple of months things aren’t so pretty anymore. You power up your computer and it seems to take longer each day to load.

If you take a look on the Internet for a solution to this, you'll find all kind of tips and tricks and several software that promises to improve the load time of your computer and overall performance. I'm not saying that those are not effective but you must be pretty careful what software will you choose to let playing around with your system registry. One software that really seem to make a difference when it comes to frustrating load time of your OS is Soluto.

Once installed, Soluto will analyze your computer boot process and then it will show you exactly the number of applications and processes that loads while booting. You'll be able to change each application's behavior (except those belonging to the system) in order to improve overall boot time of your computer. You can Pause or Delay an applications launch - pausing means that the application will be removed from the boot process and run it anytime after the boot it's complete; delay means that the application will be launched when the boot is complete and the system enters in idle state.

To see the improvements of your tweaks (or the lack of improvements - hopefully not), Soluto records the history of time taken by each reboot (you can see it by clicking 'History' in the main window).

Pluses: Shows boot time for each start-up element; nice interface;

Drawbacks / flaws: The application is in beta stage so there is still improvements to be done.

In conclusion: Soluto is an innovative start-up manager with excellent interface and decent features, I recommend it - definitely.

System Requirements
Windows XP (SP2 and above) / Windows Vista / Windows 7; Minimal requirements The minimal requirements are: Windows XP, service pack 2 and above 512MB of RAM and above Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (Soluto will install if not present)

Atomic Mail Sender???

Atomic Mail Sender is a mass mail utility that sends e-mail messages to the recipients' mailboxes without using your ISP mail server. You just have to import the mailing lists which are saved either in .txt, .lst, or .csv format or connect directly to a database. You can also import unsubscribe mailing lists in the same formats as the mailing lists. With its basic management options such as: adding new addresses, removing addresses, filtering features, etc, represented by easily recognized icons and buttons, Atomic Mail Sender brings nothing new in terms of mass mailing utilities but it definitely stands out as one of the simpliest applications.

Atomic Mail Sender is not a new application, but more of an old one which was cosmetically transformed along several years. In the beginning it was criticized for its lack of functionality and bad online help service. Its license fee was also considered to be unacceptably expensive. But the developing team went further on in developing their product in order to become an indinspensable tool for any email marketing user.

I still consider that the latest version of Atomic Mail Sender is extremely basic and can easily be overpasssed by similar products such as Mail Them Pro. But besides the HTML, subscription and database support, it comes also with an online support from where you can track the emails: how many of them reached their destination, how many of them were opened (based on table and graphic representation). Also known as Atomic Subscription Manager this system comes in handy and adds additional control to the mailing process.

In case you want to expand your marketing support you can also buy additional online services which will be integrated with your original account for Atomic Mail Sender. For instance, you can buy an SMS bulk sender service, Verifier or List Manager. All these integrated in Atomic Mail Sender makes your business to work smoother if not better.

Pluses: easy to use, improved statistics, online email management services, HTML viewer.

Drawbacks/Flaws: additional costs for the online services, no support for audio messages.

In conclusion: Great tool for sending newsletters and other marketing products through emails.

System Requirements
P133, RAM 32, HDD 2Mb, Internet connection

What's new
Error in Message-ID formatting has been fixed; Strong bug in attaches has been fixed; New mailing list formats support; Percents in the title now are calculated properly; X-Mailer property is now set correctly; Organization header is now set properly;

Light Downloader 1.1.1

Download managers are abundant these days and almost all popular browsers offer basic a download management facility. Most of us don't feel like using something more advanced but if you're downloading huge files frequently or multiple files simultaneously, you might want to consider an alternate to traditional downloading via a browser.

A good alternative that is not just fully-featured but also very lightweight with the system is Light Downloader. This tiny download manager can resume broken downloads from where they were interrupted and accelerate your downloads (up to 6 times) by splitting the files into several parts and downloading them simultaneously.

The interface of Light Downloader is clean and easy to understand. The main window shows a list of downloaded files with additional information like file name, file size, download status, current download speed, number of downloading sections and estimated time to complete.

At the top you can find the main menu and the control buttons such as: create a new download, start / stop download, traffic usage and preference (where you get regular options related to downloads, limits, monitoring, network, proxy servers and so on)

On the left hand side of the program window, downloads are categorized (by extension) as either Music, Other, Software and Video. More to this, there is a filter which allows you to see the completed downloads, in progress and stopped downloads, as well as scheduled downloads. Scheduled downloads means that the program can connect to the Internet at a scheduled time, download the files you want, disconnect, or shut down your computer when it's done.

Quite alike the famous Internet Download Manager, the application once installed adds a watermark on your desktop (which you can move wherever you want), providing drag-and-drop of URLs for easy quick downloading.

Last but not least, Light Downloader offers browser integration for Firefox and Internet Explorer and in case you need to, you can also add URLs manually.

Pluses: Clean interface; lightweight; drag and drop support; download acceleration;

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: If you want to boost your download speed for free and make sure your files will be certainly downloaded, this utility is definitely worth a try.

System Requirements
128M RAM, 650MHZ CPU

What's new
Adjust the Preferences interface; Enhance Proxy Feature; Some bug fixes

Disk Space Fan,,

These days, hard drives offer more storage space for lower prices than ever before. However, I've found on my own that no matter how large is your hard drive, sooner or later you'll fill it up with something. I'm quite sure that you know what I'm talking about and you have seen already the annoying "low disk space warning" (and the consequences) on your own. At that point, you might want to analyze your hard drive and find the files and folders that are taking the most space, but in case you have hundreds of folders with thousands of files - you're in trouble.

Considering it's impossible to use Windows to determine which folders use the most space (or at list, not the easy way), I'd like to recommend you to use Disk Space Fan. This gorgeous application can display the amount of space taken by each folder and the files contained within.

As you start the application, you will find an overview of your local drives. Select the one that you want analyze and click the 'Scan for Details' button. When the process is done, you will see your files and folders displayed on the left side, with the graph shown on the right side. You can move your mouse over each block to find out the folder they represent. You can also right click on any block (no matter if represents a file or a folder) and delete it, open it, browse the content and so on.

More to this, you can analyze a specific folder from 'Home'. To proceed, click 'Home' wherever you're, click 'Scan Folder', select the folder that you want to analyze, click 'View Scan Result' and then you'll see the graph for the current folder.

One thing that I want to inform you, there is a paid version too which brings useful functionality like: duplicate files search, comparison criteria, filters and more. You can buy it for 19.95$ from the developers website.

Pluses: Eye-candy, very easy to use;

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: A great utility that will be your best friend when it comes to analyze the content of your local drives (in order to make some cleaning).

System Requirements
256 MB RAM minimum, Microsoft Windows XP

What's new
New UI applied. Minor bugs fixed.
